Events in Open Gardens of the Golden City (Johannesburg)
For 21 years Gardens of the Golden City has sourced and opened private gardens to garden lovers on behalf of various charities. The coming season, from August to November and from the end of January into March, will support Hospice, BirdLife SA and the SPCA along with the charities supported by Roedean School.
We look for gardens large and small, traditional and unconventional and unusual public spaces to touch the imagination of our viewers and give them fresh inspiration. We hope you enjoy our selection and would appreciate any suggestions from you our garden visitors.
Once again we thank our gardeners who put in tremendous effort to ensure their gardens are looking their best and happily share their gardens with you.
Starting on a very small scale in 1997, garden clubs in and around Johannesburg were invited to join in by finding gardens in their areas which would be appreciated by the garden loving public. Since then Gardens of the Golden City has gone from strength to strength and over the years has become a keenly anticipated event in Johannesburg.
This is an entirely voluntary organisation. All time and expenses in selecting the gardens are performed on a voluntary basis by members of the committee of Gardens of the Golden City.
All funds raised for this season will be directed to the following charities:
NPO 000 708
PBO 95000 2687
|BirdLife South Africa
